I know what you mean. I was really gutted the first week he was back, after something consuming your whole life for about 4 years, getting the visa and then it is all off, it is such an anti climax.

So now I will concertrate on building up the business. And trying to get a holiday to somewhere nice and sunny for the May break.

Hi Cinderella,

I can really understand how gutting it must have been for you - like you say, you invest so much time, energy & emotion into getting the visa. But, maybe you will find another dream to follow & in the end you will be happy you stayed.
I haven't been to QLD but many posts I have read on here refer to the same issues your husband experienced as occuring everywhere in Oz.

Good luck to you.
All the best,
Bella

Its a tough call isn't it. Well done for your positive attitude.
My husband decided 2 weeks ago he diidn't want to go ahead with the visa applications. I was gutted too, I 'd done the recce, have lots of friends in oz and worked out schools, TAFE, uni, housing area etc. I'm still reeling from it. I will keep all the info in case he changes his mind or decides to go for the retirement visa when he's 55. In the mean time I'll make a trip to oz next year to stay with my friends and try to make the best of living in uk.

Hope things work out for you. It sounds like you have a realistic idea of what things might be like for you out here.

You said your Husband came out to validate. If you haven't already done so make sure you validate your visa as well as any of your kids (if you have any). That way if things change for you you will have another 4.5 yerars to decide to move to Aus.
It took you a long time to get those visas so don't give them up by not validating!!

If you can get the cash why not come out for a holiday, if you come at the right time of year it can be as little as 500 pounds each return.

keep positive.

Hi Cinderella
Sorry to hear your plans haven't worked out.

ANyway, I'm another fan of Cheshire......happily back in Lymm (used to work in Wilmslow and Alderley before I went to Oz). I think Oz is a great country but I wouldn't want to live there forever. Cheshire makes me happy!! I know it's no consolation but us Cheshire bods are in a nice part of the UK.

Hope things get easier in Wim.

You never know, we may decide to go later on. The visa my husband has is the NZ Family one, so he didn't have to vilidate it. But he did have the visa at the time he went for his visit. He can come and go as he pleases for the next 5 years. The children and I have NZ passports, so we are OK as well.

We may have another holiday in OZ, but would more than likely go to NZ and see my family and friends instead. Could always stop over in OZ though.

At the moment Florida is calling us to go there on holiday. I know you love it there as well.

Tim went to Colundra on his visit and liked it very much. He also liked Bunderim.

Glad to hear things are working out well for you and your family.

You are just down the road. I am sure Cheshire made you happy today, with all this lovely sunshine. I hope it continues.

It is a horrible feeling, knowing the dream is not going to happen. So you just have to find something else to focus on.

Good idea to go out for a holiday and see all the people you know. And in the mean time enjoy the summer.

Hiya Cinderella,

I'm in a similar situation that the wife told me sha didn't wonna move for a couple of years maybe 3 or 4.
Just validating seams hard at the moment with the new baby and all.
Just remember that the visa lasts foir 5 years and that your destiny lies in your own hands. You could go for a couple of years, get citizenship & then return.

Bye (slightly depressed at the thought of staying in the UK)

Hey Jasper Pentop, it depends which part of Nottingham you are talking about. It's a big place with some wonderful villages. Not all like Radford, Hyson Green, Bulwell and The Meadows you know!!!! lol I'am going back there and I've lived here, I know which place I like best lol

No offence to anyone who lives in those towns!!

Cinderella,

It must be so dissapointing when, like you say the past 4 years of your lives have been spent consumed by the migration process.

I sometimes feel though that you can get snowballed along with the whole migration thing and in the end some (no one in partucular, and no one on this site) don't stop to look if they would really like to live there, they get the visa and just go anyway. Stuff the consiquenses and lets just do it, thats what we did. With no regard to what happens if we don't like it. It's easy to think before you go that if it doesn't work you can go back but no thoughts about how much it actaully costs to get back!! where you'll live, how it affect your whole family etc etc.

I wish you all the best, maybe you should try and find another project to keep your mind occupied?

Hi Cinderella

Sorry to hear your not making the move. You will have the best of both worlds..easy affordable travel to Europe etc and holidaying in OZ....may be for the best who knows but try to look forward to other things. Dreams can come true just might not be the "RIGHT' time yet !!

All the best
