Default Are we just plain crazy

We are hopefully going back to Brisbane in about six weeks, don't even ask why we came back not by choice, but to sell house. Are we totally crazy? We have no jobs to come to but at least we don't have to sell a house that has been sold for 2.5 years thats how long we have been trying,we have eight months left on visas, we just need to leave the UK before anyone else gets sick and then dies.

What is the housing situation for renting like? After the flood.please can you help us thank you guys.

I think you will find that rentals in Brisbane are very difficult now. One RE agent I know has lost 25% of his rental book. A friend of mine has a rental house and it had 1 metre of water above the floorboards. The tenants walked away leaving all their furniture and crap and he has been clearing up the mess.

Fair bit of damage down around Rocklea - not an area I know well but there were a lot of manufacturing places/warehouses etc flooded out to the roof. PArt of the problem at present is that its so recent some places are still closed, and many won't yet know if they can get back on their feet.
I'll move your thread to the main forum though, gives you a double bite at answers

It's a bit swings and roundabouts at the moment. One person I work with lost her house (rental) to floods but has managed to find a similar house, same price, same suburb but on a hill! No competition for the place either. The 2 bed/2 bath unit next to me has been empty for a few months now - I think it may now be off the market but was certainly stil doing viewings last week and was at market price.

I guess you need to do the ground work. Some un-flood hit suburbs are business as usual too.

Good luck!
