Smile Diesel Fitter/Mechanic ACT

Hi as Im new to this forum please bear with me!

Doe's anyone konw what the job opportunities are for a diesel fitter/mechanic in Canberra ACT? Over 20 yrs experience including heavy plant and Agricultural machinery.

Looking to emigrate there within the next few months. I have found plenty of opportunities for myself (Child Care Manager) now need to sort the husband out!

He want's to be a house-husband,no chance! I have been on loads of different employment web sites but unable to find any jobs.
I would apprechiate any comments/advice anyone may have.

Hi Catrin

Have you had a look at these? Mycareer.com.au also try jobsearch and the Canberra Times. I've had a quick look and there are a few jobs going which might be suitable. Try just entering mechanic or diesel in the search box, they don't seem to use the term diesel fitter there?!

Not sure about pay rates but I know that they're crying out for fitters here, once here get settled & then apply - he'll be working by the next week.

Hi,
There is a place called Cooma Diesel in Fyshwick (that is the industrial part of Canberra) Cooma is about 1 hr drive away from the south side of Canberra, but I noticed they have a branch here in Fyshwick.
Maybe give them a email and take it from there?
PS I LOVE Canberra!!

PS Also if you see jobs advertised in Queanbeyan, NSW, its a very short drive away from the south side of Canberra towards the airport.
So can easily commute about 15-20 mins away from south Canberra.
