Default Are we close?

Just sent off medicals and police checks after request from DIMA. Any ideas on the average wait from this point?

When did you apply?
Medicals take up to 3 months.

Applied in November 2001 - so far it all seems to have gone very quickly in respect to what we read on this newsgroup. We applied to Adelaide and haven't used an agent at all but the way I see it is that as DIMA has requested we submit our medicals and police checks then it would be unlikely that they would expire before we hear yes or no.Or am I being naive?

it is hard to give advice on this matter, some need to redo medicals, some managed to prolonge their validity with 6-12 months and some simply got the visa in a few weeks after submitting them.
I have to redo them in July but I think it is normal as I live in a country with such high tuberculosis incidence (highest in Europe I think).

If you are appllying under IT it seems you will wait approx six weeks after submiting medicals to Austrailia House. But up to three months if not IT. Good luck.

It shouldn't be much more than a few months. It can depend on visa availability.

Out of interest, where did you apply (London?), when and what's your profession?

Bevo,

Can you just confirm for me that you have applied for Skilled Independant, for a non-IT skill, and that you applied in November 2001 to Adelaide.

This is great news for those of us who need to apply to Adelaide, although it must be a sickner for those waiting to hear from AHC in London.

Has anyone else who applied to Adelaide heared anything yet?

yes, Nov 2001, skilled independant non-IT. It does seem to have gone through quite fast compared to others, this is why we are trying to establish times between sending off medicals and getting visas.

Cheers Bevo.

That is great news for those of us non-IT people that are about to apply to Adelaide.

Where are you planning to settle?

Not quite sure where we are going to be yet probably in the pine rivers shire, just north of brisbane, somewhere, although we need to sort out schools etc for the kids. Have been told by a friend that the day nurserys are taking names for 2003, so if anyone wants a specific school/pre-school they need to think about registering soon.

Can anyone tell me whether you get an acknowledgement for the receipt of medical etc. or do we just have to sit back and wait?

Thanks
