Washing machine - where to buy (Oz or UK)?

Re: Washing machine - where to buy (Oz or UK)?
Depends on a lot of factors. When we arrived, we had a fair bit to buy, fridge freezer, telly etc. We went to the good guys and got a good deal buying a few items. You never pay the ticket, even on sale items. We ended up paying 450bucks for our Samsung 5 star efficient frontloader and got 200 or something back on a government rebate. No complaints.

It bloody does matter and that is crap. Both countries are nominally 230V and 50Hz.

Also as soon as you leave the UK you won't be able to get warranty support if something goes wrong either.
No problem getting front loaders here now, in fact I think they are becoming more common that top loaders with the water saving and rebates available.

Yes, I had forgotten about that. We did the weekend launderette visit here for quite a few weeks and it was quite expensive. It was costing us about $24 a week.

we bought a simpson top loader in excellen condition from ebay, for $100, and also a GE double door stainless steel fridge/freezer for $450, which is GREAT!
its 10 years old, but works fabulously and has water and ice too
we had budgeted for new products, but i preferred to save the money!

Our washing machine, a Bosch front loader, bought in Australia 4 years ago is rubbish. I put it down to the fact that machines down here are built to be water smart. In other words they use such a small amount of water that they barely wash the clothes.
In reply to an earlier post about electrical supply frequency. The frequency in both Australia and UK is 50 Hz. Not sure about mainland Europe though.

No $200 rebate in Qld at the moment, I believe, although I did see it for NSW.

We'd have brought ours if we could have cleaned it good enough but it was an outside/garage one
