I thought Jackie was actually being very reallistic, at least she didnt look at it through rose tinted specs and think it would all be fine, as the other half of someone who desperately wants to go to australia I could understand her reservations completely.

Just a FYI for those outside the UK with no access to BBC iPlayer...

All of the 'Wanted Down Under' episodes are available from www.thebox.bz which is a torrent site specialising in UK tv broadcasts.
If its a UK made programme and has been on the tv in the UK in the last few then you'll probably find it available for download.

No membership fees but signup places are limited and you have to keep upoading to keep downloading as your up:down ratio is measured.

I've been downloading them all for this series and have watched the first 11 so far, should get up to date over the weekend. My favorite so far was the woman with the evil glare whose husband was moving to OZ whether he wanted to or not.

I also heard that while Phil is away in Australia, Kirsty Allsopp will be filming a new property series called 'Kirstie's Home videos'.

One thing that's puzzled me with WDU is whether the families get a choice as to which destination they are flown to for a week. They must choose the applicants for the show who are open to living anywhere in OZ I guess, else I'm guessing most families would choose the same 2 or 3 places all the time. Also, because most of the cities in OZ offer something different, I find it strange how some families find it's not for them without sampling another city, which could have cooler/warmer weather and better job prospects

Not this series, but the older ones they did get to choose. We watched one from 2007 last night which was much better, but the Husband said work was better in the UK and wouldn't budge on that, so they didn't even have a chance to move to Oz even try. How selfish.

yes they probably did JenJen, but it does not look like they are going to use theirs, and there are other people who would do anything to get a visa and use it right now

People are allowed to change their mind, have second thoughts, cold feet, change in circumstances aren't they? You might get there and absolutely hate it and come home. Would it be fair to hold you personally responsible for depriving somebody else of a visa if this is the case? I don't think so really.

I am sure the immigration department monitors the number of immigrants, general population levels and knows when they need more or less numbers coming in. I am sure they can detect when visas are not used and will use techniques to build in the "drop out" figures to predict future requirements / numbers. No point getting upset at someone on WDU.

I doubt it cos Lee & Bronogh that were on tonights programme said she was having a baby when Phil made that series.

Really good programme tonight, far better than the usual drivvle that comes out of WDU!

Yeah, that was an intended joke.

I enjoyed Phil's program, much more interesting than WDU.

Don't think I'll watch anymore WDUs.
