Waiting Game
Hi
We finally sent off my (English) boyfriends PR application on Saturday, after checking it about 15 times. Now we just have to wait...
So, can anyone out there please give me an idea of how long it's likely to take?! I know AHC say 6 months, but the indication I've got from this website is that they're processing the partner migration applications much faster these days. We haven't included the medical or police check- is it worthwhile sorting those out now, rather than waiting until they ask for them?
Also, has anyone had an application refused? Maybe I'm just panicking, but since we sent everything off I can't stop thinking about it!! We included everything they asked for, plus photos of us together and a job offer for me from Australia (Mark keeps joking he's going to get a nice long holiday, now that I've had to assure AHC that I'll support him for 2 years!).
Thanks
Zena

Hi Zena
I think it'll be alright for you to stop the panicking now...I know nothing's guaranteed, but unless your boyfriend has some deep, dark secret that he hasn't shared with you, I think you can expect the visa real quick.
We got my husbands visa back within 6 weeks of applying (and we didn't do the medicals & police checks until we were asked), but there are others on this group who have had a 15 DAY turnaround because they frontloaded their applications. Either which way, I think they quote the 6 months to give themselves plenty of time to deal with the applications....must be incase they get busy!!
As for boyfriend thinking he's on holiday....I'd get him a job in McDonalds!!!
good luck and let us all know when it finally arrives!

Re: Waiting Game
Hi Zena,
I today got the acknowledgement letter from AHC London (applied on the 10th May), requesting I go for a medical. I submitted the police checks with my application.
From what I can gather from reading this newsgroup is that the process is a hell of a lot quicker than what they state.
Fingers crossed the request for the medical means that apart from the medical results, my application is fine.
So hopefully not too much time to go now. Arrangine for my medical for next week, good job I have the next two weeks off work.
Hope all goes well for you both.
