Hi everyone,
Was looking for some advice about Melbourne, and more specifically, the western suburbs.
We are currently in Perth, WA and have been here for 7 years. We love it here however, circumstances outwith out control are making us consider a move to Melbourne.
We're a family with 3 young kids, living north of the river (Carine) and ideally, we're looking for something similar. I appreciate there wont be too many people that have made the same move from west to east, especially who are in the western suburbs but any advice on what areas to avoid, and any recommendations would be gratefully accepted.
We are somewhat restricted to the western suburbs due to family/support proximity so we're concentrating on that area. Although, I wouldn't rule out somewhere else if it ticks all the boxes.
Sanctuary Lakes looks nice but I've been reading some horror stories about commute times into the CBD, and issues with the Owners Corp. Anybody have any first hand experience?
Slainte!

We live fairly close to SL at the moment and there are a lot of Point Cook people on here.
My huge gripe with Sl and Point Cook is the lack of transport links. Driving is the only option and the westgate freeway to the city is a nightmare. Today was the first day since schools started (end of Jan) that it has not been a carpark.
And to get to SL/PC there is really only one road in and out- which causes traffic chaos. Plus to go to SL you have to pay a huge body corp fee to pay for the golf course and lake.
However the western burbs get an unfair reputation. Have you looked at Truganina/Williams Landing which are new build estates BUT (miracle) they are building a train station.
Also established burbs like Altona, Yarraville are nice as are some parts of Maidstone (near Highpoint shopping centre) and small pockets in Footscray.
