Default Vaccant land Insurance

Hi we have just signed contracts to buy a vaccant block of land in Pacific Pines and the solicitors have recommended we get some public liability insurance on it.

They said if somebody goes on the land and injures themselves we could be liable ?? is it normal to insure vaccant land anybody any recomendations who to get the insurance with?.

To be honest I've never heard of that before?

We bought a block of land about a month ago; it's settled already and there was never any mention about public liability insurance. It's a 10 acre bush block and as far as i know; all we have to do is maintain the fire-break around the perimeter?

Biggy has the right idea I think........... technically no-one should be on our land as it's private property I guess?

We have another block of land too in Golf Links Drive which we've owned for about just over 3 years............. with that too no-one ever mentioned anything at all about the need for insurance? As long as we mow the weeds each year and see that the fire beak along the fences on each side are intact prior to summer....... we are ok I guess?

I wouldnt say it was normal but probably becoming more common.

Weve had kids parents after u$$$ as their little darlings were vandalising the house under construction and hurt themselves:curse:. Was building for someone and the neighbours tree went through the roof in a storm, suppose there are all sorts of situations even on vacant land where some will want a slice of your payroll. Know of one in the paper recently where a large tree on vacant land was dropping seed pods, add rain, someone slipped on the footpath outside and $$$$.

Vacant land here sometimes has security fencing along the front, might be cheaper if its a small block to just put temp fencing and appropriate signs up.

I would, it will only cost you a few hundred dollars. Much rather that than scumbags and their lawyer suing you because their little johnny burnt himself while trying to set fire to your dry undergrowth.

Hi

We purchased a vacant plot of land in February this year also at Pacific Pines which was released in June however we have never had any insurance and are now in the middle of building on it!

Ring Stocklands at Pacific Pines, they will let you know.

Best of luck

Sue
