Red face Using an Agent??

HI, another question for anyone who has made the move.

Is it best to use an agent to help with the moving process or is it just as easy to do it yourself (!)

We have been quoted the following from an agent, is this the standard, would really welcome anyones comments on this.

Professional Fee AUS$3,500.00 approx 1,450 Pounds;
Application Fee AUS$1,795.00 approx. 743 Pounds;
Skills Assessment Fee AUS$ 500.00 approx. 210 Pounds;
Medical Assessment Fee AUS$ 300.00 approx 125 Pounds (for each person in your family);
Police Clearances unknown but not significant (for each person over 18).

Many thanks Rachel and Jon

Someone put a post on last week about this and loads of people sent in their best agents to use. Do the search thingy.....I posted something to say we did it without agents and saved ourselves £3-4k but it depends how easy your application is. We put infor the skilled independant and it took 10 months from receipt of confirmed TRA
Cheers

Hi RachelandJohn
Thought about using an agent but as my job was on the SOL, I felt that it was a lot of money when I was not going to be any better off using them anyway. Here is a listing of my costs so far:

Registration with NSW Nurses Reg Board $50 = £20
Skills Assessment $150 = £61
Verification from Nursing & Midwifery Council to Australian Nursing Council £34
Interstate Verification (from NSW Board to ANC) $5 = £2

Police checks £10 each x 2 = £20

Medicals for 2 adults £80 each
" for child aged 11 £60
" for child aged 8 £30 ........total £250

Chest Xrays aged over 11 x 3 £35 each = £105
Blood tests HIV x 2 £15 each and Hep B (nurse) £15 = £45

Visa application $1795 = £766.90

Registered Delivery to Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre of visa application and all Xrays and medical forms etc. £11.60

So as you can see, I think we saved a bit by doing it ourselves. I think if you know you can easily meets the points then it is not worth using an agent. It all depends on what visa you want really.
