I have just got married do i have to change my uk passport to my married name?
I have looked on the website and it sounds like i will have to pay $317

Has anyone done this or not ? If i was to travel with my uk passport do i just take my marriage certificate and show this?

As long as you book the tickets in the same name that is in your passport, its not a problem and you can leave it in your maiden name for ever if you like. No requirement to change your name at all.

The only reason to change your name on your passport is if you want to! Personally, I've been married for over two years and couldn't be bothered

I've not changed the name in my passport either, although that's due to both apathy and a vague thought that it would be better to keep my passport in the same name as my daughter's.

Loads of women don't change their names after marriage. You don't have to change anything if you don't want to.

If your tickets to travel are in your married name and your passport is in your maiden name you can bring a copy of your marriage certificate to prove you have both names.
