Just a quick couple of questions. Which travel company would people recommend for flights to the UK? Also has anyone flown with Airlanka, as this seems to be the cheapest airline coming up so far.

Are they code-sharing on the Asia-Aus sector or do they now fly here themselves?

Lots of threads with airline preferences. My own are Qantas, Cathay and Austrian, in that order. If you do a search for any airline operating Aus-UK flights you'll find a page full of opinions, good and bad

Air Lanka tend to codeshare with Emirates so may find that part of the routing is with them (probably Colombo onwards to Australia). I've never flown with Air Lanka but had decent reports of them.
