Trying to get employer sponsorship can any one help?
My OH has applied for loads of jobs and most of the time he gets no responce other times he gets you need to have a visa.
At the moment he is putting his stuff together for Engineers Australia to see if he can get a positive assessment as a professional mechanical Engineer. However, looking at the criteria it looks like he is border line between Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Engineer technologist. So we are assuming he will get the lower grade meaning he will be 5 points short(even with ILETS) for a 175 visa.
He is feeling so down hearted at lack of response so could any one give us some advice. We have been using Seek although he emails companies direct with his resume rather than through Seek.
He has had 22 years in the army and has worked his way up to the top of the chain.

He is, as none of the states apart from queensland on a provisional visa have mechanical engineering technologist on their list
Ideally he is after the permanent ENS visa

Not replying, not interested if you have no visa or even not interested until you have an arrival date is the norm.
There are a few options you might consider.
1. Try to apply for positions in the places away from the main cities, smaller places where they might be more desperate to find somebody. Don't know what you think about living in real regional Oz.
2. The advantage of qualifications assesment through IEAust is that you have a choice of them assessing either your education (if you are from a group of countries they accept) or your engineering experience (the only way for other countries).
The second way through writing CDR allows engineers to get their qualifications assessed in an engineering discipline other than what they studied in school. It is a fair bit of work and real experience is needed but might work.
I found an engineering qualification that was on a list sponsored by SA (different states have different lists) and than got assessment in that qualification through the CDR than applied for STNI visa and got it without problems. Must admit that the CDR way was the only way for me but it also gave me a choice of what qualifications I want assessed.
