Travelling with lots of luggage.....
I have been doing the old comparison with airlines for how much luggage we can take with us. We are flying business (Hubbys work pays for that). If we fly Qantas via USA we get 88kg which includes bicycles and frequent flyer kilos. Air New Zealand via USA 78kg includes bicycle. British Airways either direction 69kilos plus hand luggage plus bicycle. Qantas via Asia 54 kg including bicycle.
We will have 2 young children with us - which equals 2 child restraints for cars and one large Mountain Buggy twin pram. British Airways looks to be the best (flying via Heathrow you get 23kilos of hand luggage) plus the free bike.
So if we have all this luggage - 2 large suitcases per person - 8 suitcases, potentially 8 pieces of hand luggage, 2 car seats, twin pram and 2/3 bicycles and two yong children - how do we do it physically? If we stopover we will need an extra car just for the luggage!!! Does Changi airport or Hong Kong have Left luggage facilities?
Has anyone done it?

Hiya,
yes, we have! although not with as much luggage as you are thinking of. Flew in november via Singapore with 120kilos of luggage, double buggy, 3 small children plus heaps of hand luggage. won't beat around the bush, it was a nightmare! Wouldn't want to do it again in a hurry. I wish we had shipped more with our airshipping and carried less, but things always seem essential don't they when you are packing
However, saying that we managed and people do bring 80kgs each. We had a stop-over in singapore and needed a maxi cab from the airport and that was full. I don't think a lot more would have fitted in. We took all of our luggage with us to the hotel, never thought of looking into left luggage (good idea ). We got a porter at Heathrow, cost a fortune, and one at singapore both ways, tip only. There were no porters at Melbourne so hubby had to push 2 trolleys. this got interesting trying to get through quarantine! It would possibly be easier with no stop-over as you only have to get it all on once and then off once.
We all had hand luggage each, inc bag each for the children, plus coats, cardis etc that wouldn't fit in the bags and a laptop. the hardest part was trying to get all of that on the plane, had very little help. A very kind passenger helped getting on the plane at singapore and stewardesses helped when we got off, but it was very tricky. We travelled with a 3yr old and 18mth old twins, so the twins had to be carried too.
Buggy was taken from us at the gate and returned to us as soon as we got off the plane. That helped with lugging the hand luggage (and the twins)
We made a decision to leave our car seats behind, not legal to use here anyway. On the plane, the twins sat in our lap for take off and landing and they used the seats we bought for them the rest of the flight.
Good luck!
any more questions let me know

The check-in guy asked if we were emigrating as it was a one-way ticket, we confirmed it and he just let us through, no excess charge or anything!
