We have just booked with Singapore air. Our toddler will be 19 months in August when we go, so we have booked him a seat, dont fancy having him on our knee and he's way too big for a basinette which we used last year. We checked with Singapore at the time of booking about the car seat. They do not provide them anymore but we are allowed to use our own as long as it is EU approved, which I am sure any for sale in the UK will be.

Why not put your 3 year old boy into a paid seat? I imagine at 3 years old that they should be able to make use of the seat without the aid of a car seat?

BTW, we have been quoted (online with Ebookers) £1150.90 for a one-way 1/6/2006 passage in economy, with Cathay, for 2 adults and 1 child (not infant price) or £3,294 if you do the same trip in business.
We got ours (2 Adults, One child) with Cathay, through Lastminute.com for 1127.50 back in February. They seemed to te the cheapest, and the flight was good. The only pain of it is having to change planes at Hong Kong.

There wasn't a lot of difference in price between CP, Songapore and Malaysia

I would say without doubt get them their own seat. I took my car seat on Singapore Airlines when my son was 18 months and that was a lifesaver - we got loads of sleep. At 2 and a half years it is better without the car seat as there is more room for them to play, have the table down for toys etc. The bassinets I found useless - too small for my son when he was 9 months old and just in the way!
