Default Transporting the cat

Hi

Trying to get organised and was wondering if any of you could recommend a company that transports cats to Oz.

We are trying to sort the money side out and just need a rough figure of how much it costs and what jabs he will need before we go.

Thanks

Nicky

Hi, try this link, will give you a checklist on what you have to do first (vaccinations, import certificate etc. ):
http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs

Sorry can't help with the costs because we have transported our two cats from Germany to Oz.

Please keep in mind that the quarantine stations are often booked out months in advance, so you need to start with the whole process as soon as you have a rough idea when you are going.

Cheers

Katie

Hi Nicky

We bought our cat from Heathrow to Perth in Feb this year, it cost around £750 approx with 'Jets4pets', this fee is just for the flight and crate, they were very good.

Vaccinations in UK and Oz quarantine fees have to be added on top. Our siamese cat arrived fit & well with no probs at all.

if you need any more info at all please ask...

Jo

we have been quoted just under £1500 to transport our cat from glasgow to sydney, we will have additional costs for vaccinations and microchip.

the quarantine fees are 650 dollars approximately

Thanks so much for all your replies, he is a must loved family member and just could not leave him behind. At least I have an idea of how much he is going to cost us.

Thanks again

Nicky

We're using "Airpets". £863 from Reading to Perth (quarantine fees are on top).

When I spoke to Byford quarantine station, Carol (women in charge) said that most of their cats and dogs from the UK are shipped by Airpets.

Hi Nicky

We brought out our cat and dog last year from Manchester to Perth - it was around £1500 each but that included Cattery and Kennels for 3 weeks in Manchester before they went as the Quarantine in Perth was fully booked. This included Flight, documents, Vet checks (with our regular vet and the Heathrow one.) all jabs etc. That also included quarantine for 30 days! We found all the information via the link below

http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs

Hope this helps - Di X

Hi Di

Who did you use? This sounds very reasonable! Our two cats will be very well travelled, we brought them to the UK from South Africa a few years ago, and couldnt possibly leave them behind this time!

I dont blame you either - they are part of the family arnt they. We used a family run firm called Sky Master - located at Manchester Airport - its a husband and wife (Arnie and Pat) and they are really nice - looked after our two pets very well. We even sent them a Perth Postcard from the pets to say thank you when they got here - Haha - I'm mad I know!!

Thanks Di

Its crazy really. When we came over from SA it would have been cheaper if we had two children instead of two cats
