Default Perth Rekkie

Hi Everyone,

We've booked our rekkie to Perth, we fly out on the 27th June for two and a half weeks. Gonna check out a few suburbs and test the water on the job front (Toolmaker) with some agencies .

Got a few suburbs in mind , but can anyone suggest any that are worth a look.

We'll be there between 29th june and 12th july , does anyone know if there are any meet ups happening between these dates , so that we can pick peoples brains.

cheers ,

Julie , Chris & Ben

In the northern suburbs there are 2 meets every week. The Boat pub at Mindarie on Tuesday lunchtime and The Quay Cafe at Hillarys on Thursday lunchtime. More than welcome to rock up at either at pick brains.

Being a toolmaker, you will walk into a job, no problem.

Thanks for the replies,

staying in scarborough when we arrive for the weekend (to get over the flight- this flight will be new territory for us as we are travelling with 11mnth old Ben.

picking a car up on the monday and will probably look at suburbs north of the city for a few days and take advantage of the meets in mindarie and hillarys
- is there allways a turn out at them? Any meets south ?

about the weather- are you talking as a seasoned resident or a new arrival?
Got up for work on monday and had to scrape the windscreen !!!!!

Feeling a bit annoyed at the moment , been sending e-mails & cv's off for the last week and found out yesterday that my ISP tiscali has had problems with spammers resulting in many e-mails not being delivered.
Gonna resend via different route this weekend just in case!!!

Thanks again,

Chris Julie & Ben

Hi Chris & Julie,
Scarborough is lovely, as are Ocean Reef, Marmion, Hillarys - the list is endless! Just depends on how much you want to pay. Peard Estate Agency produces a booklet every month with all the new properties to buy and rent however the rentals seem to be gone almost immediatley! Also there is a free propert paper that you can pick up from any estate agent every Friday (if i remember correctly) which we found very useful.
My husband and i did our reccie in March - 3 weeks and in the first week he had a job and sponsorship! He leaves on Saturday and then i follow him out at the end of August - so counting down 13 weeks tomorrow!!
Good luck and enjoy your break. With regards to the weather check BBC weather and it says Perth is sunny and 68 at the moment but our friends in Perth keep complaining about how cold it is - they seem to forget that this is summer to us pomes! I suggest taking a couple of sweaters for the evening but no need for the thermals!

It was through an agency - Anders Elite a guy called James O'Sullivan was really helpful so would defo recommend him. We also applied on job sites and he got quite a lot of interest so he had a few interviews lined up before we went out.

Personally I would suggest checking out Ashfield (us locals are starting to call it Cashville cos the prices are rising astronomically). If you can get somewhere on/nearby the river then you will have it made.

Thats good advice - Ashfield is the new up and coming place from all I have heard. (I thought it was Cashfield but hey ho-what do I know)

Plus good access to the city which is always a plus. Cant go wrong with that.
