Hi all - another quick question on behalf of two Oz-bound friends with limited internet access.....

A couple in their early 30's, no kids, home to sell or major financial ties to UK....both with jobs on the shortage list and really wanting to go sooner rather than later. One idea is to go on tourist visas, check out the job market and should suitable jobs be found in the Queensland area, apply and hopefully be able to get temporary work permits or if nec, apply for permanent residence in Australia.

Are there any drawback to this plan? They have enough savings to allow them to rent a place to live and survive 3-6 months, but they are keen to be in Oz in Jan/Feb next year and hope this plan will speed things up?

Any thoughts, experiences or advice really gratefully received and will be passed on asap.

Ooops, sorry guys.... just read the posting about this being a forum for non-immigration topics.... sorry! Have re-posted on the appropriate forum but if anyone does have experience of holiday/tourist visa, please send me your thoughts!
