Default Toolmaking in Aus?

I am in the process of applying for a visa to migrate to Australia as a skilled migrant. I am a skilled Toolmaker specialising in Blow mould tools and would like to know which area in Australia has the highest population of Tool/Mould making Companies? This will then enable me to move to the right location with the highest chance of getting a job.

You could try browsing through the online yellow pages for Oz, or seaching through something like Altavista Australia.
I applying as a metal machinist, so i'm looking for similar(ish) work.

Head for Melbourne it pays the best and there is work , most companies are very backward and using out dated methods .
The best money is contract you will need to be able to work off the back of a fag packet ,this means you will design and make the tool on a price that you will have to tender for.
The rate for Toolmakers in Perth is between $16 -$20 per hour no o/t rate in most cases , Melbourne up to $30 ph on a wage if you go contract its how fast can work that sets your earnings plus tax will leave you will more in your pocket .

One of the guys I work with worked here he rates it as okay.

Thumbs up

Thanks a lot all. Have searched the Company names mentioned and found a lot more as well. I am primarily a Blow mould Toolmaker so would prefer to stay with this trade. I have also been self employed so if this is a possibility in Aus then even better!
Cheers all.
