FINALLY we have exchanged bloody contracts!!!! (It feels as if ours has actually been written in blood, the theiving ba$tards who are buying forced the price down by £1000 at the last minute. Am seething!! But at least we can move now.) ANYWAY, for those still waiting, stick with it - there is light at the end of the tunnel. (and it's a train.
)
On the plus side I do now feel that we are a step closer to our new life down under, and that is a good feeling!

I ended up having to drop mine by £9k at the last minute
very annoying but i decided to cut my losses and get rid. I'd already been prevented from going in 2005 as the house didnt sell so didnt want to lose the opportunity this time around. Good luck to those still waiting to sell. I agree that it is more stressful than getting the visa

Thank you! Yes, selling up is definitely the most stressful part so far.
A couple of friends who have been in Oz for a couple of years told us that they know people who have run out of money and been forced back to the UK because they left their houses unsold and couldn't sell them for love nor money.
Also heard a story of someone selling their house for £150000 and getting offers of £100000 because EA told viewers she was going to Oz. So out £1000 doesn't seem bad at all! I'd definitely keep cards closer to chest in future though, if I ever end up doing this again. (:scared: Please God no!)
OK, got to go clean out the shed now.... joy!

(I have been explaining a lot to people recently that no I don't know where we will be living, no I don't have a job, no I have never been there before.... they look at me like I'm a total idiot! I am starting to question myself....
But I expect they're just jealous!

Hiya
We will start our CPV process in Feb, our Daughter should hear on Monday if she has been granted her PR (she has been there 2 years in Feb and will sponsor us)
As regards to house selling we have decided that when the time comes we will NOT be telling the Agents that we are moving to Australia or even potential buyers.
We will not be taking any furniture either and if people do ask where we are going, well we will say that we are moving up country from Cambridge and downsizing into a little cottage where none of our furniture will fit or suit. But will only say if asked.
I know that as soon as people know you are leaving the country that they will take advantage of trying to knock the price down,
Good luck to all who have visas and are waiting to leave UK and those waiting.
Our wait will start in Feb. Can;t wait to get the sponsor form from our Daughter and start our application.
All the best
