Tiawamutu's House Build

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build
Well.....only 6 days until we move in!
Have now gotten over the carpet issue, after thinking about it, and having a bit more of a walk on it
It's not that bad to walk on, and we were planning on getting a couple of big rugs anyway, so not a major problem anymore.
Can't believe it's come round so quick! We've gone from waiting and waiting, and not having a clue when it would happen, to 'settlement is in 2 1/2 weeks'
Parents arrived today, they have seen the house (think it's lovely) and are raring to go
Everything left to finish with the house has to happen this week, as we get the keys friday.
More photos will come soon...

Excellent news Tia
I wouldnt worry too much about the carpets, even if you're not 100% happy you can live with them for a few years and then replace them when you've got the time and money.
We had carpets put in ourselves and we are well p*ssed off with the quality, supposed to be guaranteed for 15 years wear and they look rubbish ater 10 months.... and we paid over $5,000, went without the heating so we could have decent carpet and not have to worry about it for the next at least 7 years...

They finished our block paving today anyway, and the main drive is all done.
Only 3 days to go til settlement, and they have said if there are minor things left to do, they will hold money in trust from the developer, until they are done. Also, we have to agree that what they have left to do is acceptable.
Watch this space....

Re: Tiawamutu's House Build
This has been a great thread and I have enjoyed following it. How long has the actual build taken from start to finish?
I wish you and your family health & happiness in your new abode.

Gillian

Congrats - the house looks great. In the end yours took about as long as ours did - and we both had a 2 month delay on bricks! I bet you're really looking forward to getting in there now. Enjoy it - in a couple of months you'll be looking for a new project like us!
