I wouldn't assume that you'll find things just as expensive across Australia as they are in Sydney.

We were in Sydney briefly when we first arrived. We found everything more expensive there. It was a relief when we left and found that things were a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Hopefully you'll find prices to be a bit more reasonable in Perth.

Housing is cheaper in Perth compared to Sydney but a lot of other things seem to be more expensive. Certainly food, eating out and drinks in pubs are (I live in Sydney but have worked in Perth for the last six months).

I find it's getting more expensive - but then wonder if I'm losing touch with comparisons.

Today - 3 coffees and 3 cakes - $30. Can somebody in England tell me if 14 quid is a lot for 3 coffees and 3 cakes?

Remember paying almost 3 pound each for coffee at Starbucks in the UK last year, and slices of cake were around the same..

Coffee in Perth is hideously expensive. Last week I got asked for $5.30 for a coffee in Osborne Park  In North Sydney you can get a coffee for around $3.

Next time, lick the icing off the top, send it back and ask for a refund. Hey presto, cheap morning tea:lol:

Just got our bill from iinet. $90 for Broadband ADSL2 (?) and all calls.

I still think this is mroe expensive than the UK though isn't it?

I seem to recall that my father pays about 35 quid and gets Sky, all phone calls (and free to Australia sometimes) and broadband.
