I have Vodafone pre-pay 'cos we've had it for years since we started visiting Oz, and I've kept it on as my husband's company phone is Vodafone, but it works hardly anywhere in the house. We're just by Sydney Harbour Bridge, not exactly out in the sticks. :frown:

We live in a suburb of Brisbane. We haven't had any problems yet, although not tested it outside of populated areas.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but actually I was going to ask the same kind of question I have just purchased a 3 skype phone in the UK so when my OH goes over to Sydney in a couple of weeks he is going to try and purchase one and we get free calls to each other using skype, just wondered if 3 works ok in OZ and if anyone else out there has used this type of phone and network??

Sometimes a prepaid phone might be a better deal. We both have prepaid Virgin phones.

If you get a $50 credit it's good for 365 days. We get free text to each other and calls are only 5 cents a minute. So that $50 last us a really long time. It works out much cheaper than paying for a monthly plan.

I'll have to look at that next time we consider changing, as most of our calls are only 1 or 2 minutes, and we currently pay 20 cents flat per call. The Virgin one may be a bit better for us.
Although I still make a $30 credit last the full 12 months :) My daughter however does not yet have my discipline

Vodafone coverage works well out here, well and truly off the main area.

Seem to get fairly good coverage for Virgin down here in Vic.

The great thing is that Virgin works in Hotham and Vodaphone doesn't.
