I know it must be infuriating, but I'm looking forward to living somewhere like that. I should be alright as I'm off to Darwin (NT stands for Not Today, Not Tuesday, Not Thursday etc.)It'll be nice to be somewhere that has it's priorities sorted - Beach, Beer, Work

They all have their problems, I don't expect those problems to go away when I live in Australia.
Now if I went to live in China or Russia I would expect things to be different to the UK (red tape). Just because they speak english in OZ should I expect everything to be the same?

You will be constantly asked to provide information that you couldn't possibly have as you have only just arrived in the country. If you don't have an Oz driving licence you may as well not exist. Phone, gas and electric companys have ALL screwed up or failed to show up. Telstra told us they don't work weekends.
I am moving to Oz to get away from the stupid 24/7 career culture that we have in the UK now.. I believe weekends are for relaxation and watching sport and it seems the Aussies do to..
Keep stressin' like that and you are gonna have a breakdown. Just make sure you don't do it on a weekend!

It is interesting to note how many people on this forum say how bad service is in Australia.
Now, everything is relative. If things were really that bad in the UK, then why would migrants in Australia make a point of saying how bad things were in Australia?
Surely if service is bad in the UK, then Australia would be an improvement.......so why complain?

Are you coming to Perth?
If you are, when you arrive get to know some South Africans. Ask them what their views are of build quality, education and service in Australia.
Whinging Afrikaners?

In Australia I find that kmart, myer, target, big w all sell larger (16 plus) clothing and Ok, so it aint great but they do it. Then they have 1626 and MySize which are stand alone shops and they have some nice bits!
I haven't really noticed a lack of quality in Australian bought clothes - I mean a lot of them are made outside Australia like British bought clothes. I even have some outfits that I bought 2 years ago when I was last there and they are still going strong.
Can't comment on food as I like food where ever it is
Hence the plus size I guess
No, Seriously - I have spent 16 years living in Australia and the rest in England (8 before Australia and 7 after) so really I am the wrong person I ask. I see pro's and con's in both places - my heart belongs in Australia but I still love England too! Very hard to explain!I am sorry that you are not happy where you are right now, I don't have any advice really, but just wanted to wish you well

[QUOTE=Paul&Nic
I'm finding pretty much everything is VERY organised and we're amazed how you can order something in a shop and have it delivered within 48 hours most of the time, just like the UK ...
[QUOTE]
You must be very lucky then!!! The amount of backorders of unavailable stock that is generated where I work is enormous. I personally am still waiting for racesuit ordered nearly 4 weeks ago. Usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks-fine, but I requested that if it can be ready(and the assistant said it would be plenty of time) by at least 3 weeks as I need it tommorrow-still waiting
Again, very lucky or the post office staff there very incompetent, as you ARE required to pay a redirection fee, which varies for different periods of the redirection.

We move home end of the month and changing everything has been a doddle to be honest. Even the redirection with the Post Office is free! ...
