Things not going to plan at the moment.........
#16
We should have exchanged contracts last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday none of which happened and there was no excuse for it not to happen yesterday but guess what it did'nt as the people in the chain are disagreeing on moving dates
We wouldnt mind but we wanted to move by mid May!! :curse: The latest completion date on the table is June 27th
We wanted to complete before this as we need to be in Australia before 30th June.
So it looks like we will have to fly out before we finalise everything, not something we really wanted to do......
Has anybody else flown out after exchange of contracts but before a completion date?
If so how did you manage to sort out things like final bills, changing your money to dollars, etc.......
Why do some things never go to plan?!!!!!!!
Thanks C x

God, Claire - as if this time for you wasn't stressful enough for you all. Thinking of you - one way or the other, it does get worked out in the end and this time six months, you'll be wondering what you were worried about. As other people have said, you CAN do it this end, if needs be. Phone calls aren't as expensive as they used to be and with email, bank transfers, etc., it can be worked out. I think you're right to try and come before 1 July if you can because of the new citizenship rules, etc. (and I'm sure your relatives will be relieved to have someone looking after their place while they're gone). Best of luck with it all. Love Michelle x

Guess what?? we've exchanged!!!!! and about time too!!!!
Thanks for all the good wishes

We completed on our UK house on 11th May and we have been living in Oz for almost 18 months! I sorted most things out on-line, final bills, council tax etc and it went smoothly. We are in the process of transferring our £'s at the moment and watching the exchange rate constantly, it's becoming a bit of a pastime for us!
At least if you've exchanged contracts when you leave you are just about there. If you have a forwarding address in Oz you can organise for final bills to be sent to that address. Just make sure you take all of your account numbers with you so it will be easier if you need to contact them.
Good luck, I'm sure it'll work out fine.
