Question Temporary residence start date

Hi everyone

I asked this question on the immigration forum but didnt get any reponses so I'm hoping for more luck here

If I get a temporary residence visa what date will it start and thereby end on?

Would it start the day I entered Oz? Or the date the application was approved? Or some other date?

I'm just trying to judge when best to send in my application.

Thanks very much.

Buzzy.

You need to be more specific - what kind of temporary visa? (there are lots).

OK, so just to confirm, I should submit my visa application reasonably close to when I intend to depart (say 6 months) to ensure that I get the maximum amount of time on it in Australia. I think 6 months should be sufficient to deal with any queries etc.

Thanks

The 461 is renewable towards the end of the 5 year period, if you meet the requirements to renew. This can be done onshore, but you should never let your existing visa expire before applying for a new one (and don't leave things to the last minute).

Thank you Jeremy. Do you happen to know if police checks and medicals are requested again for the renewal?

Thanks

Buzzy.

I don't have a clear answer but quite possibly, yes.
