Well I have managed to get an interview with a fantastic Melbourne school via Skype next week. We don't move to Melb til end of October and I am dual aussie/brit and never lived in Oz.
I wonder if anyone who has had a Skype Interview had any tips? I am a little nervous to say the least and have been a Primary teacher for 6 years and haven't experienced an Unorthadox interview! In a way its quite exciting! Hehe
Any tips/Advice greatly appreciated!

It will probably seem a little strange at first but then you just get into interview mode. I remember my phone interview for my first job in Aus and it was like a conference call, I was in my bedroom at 6am trying to make a good impression to people on the other side of the world I couldn't even see! Got the job though so must've done something right :-)
Good luck!

Congrats on getting an interview! I've had telephone interviews before but never via Skype. I guess you just need to treat it like it's a 'real' interview so still dress smartly, make sure you're in a quiet room with no distractions, ensure you're making good eye contact through the webcam and be prepared.

Hubby had interview for his Aussie Primary teaching job.
He said it was less formal, and was like a conference call with 3 people.
Write down a few notes. So you dont forget.
Like others say practice, oh and make sure you have the right time.

Good luck with your interview!! Great to know this happens as before I read your post I queried about job applications going against my husband as we are still in the UK. He is a secondary school teacher and has just started to apply for jobs in Melbourne.
I'd just treat it the same as a 'normal' interview - good idea to practice one on skype with a friend beforehand!
Let us know how you get on!

Good luck with the interview. All good advice already given. With my technical head on make sure nothing can go wrong with actually using skype on the day. For example if your using a notebook, the batteries dead and you can't find the power cable!
