Had a fab weekend Cathy got there at 12pm sat left about 10.30pm, fab weather, far too much food and wine but managed to go back again the following day :lol: our motel was bang accross the road so really handy. Festivale rocks bloody fantastic :thumbsup:

Sounds like you had a good time Possums!

We went to Salamanca market on Saturday, haven't been for ages, it was really busy with tourists but still had a pleasant stroll around and bought some more Huon honey, Bruny Island cheese and delicious cherries. In the evening we went to the Picnic in the Park at Tolosa Park with the TSO playing. It was a lovely evening and we had a scrummy picnic with some of the food we had picked up at the market. Very pleasant, and even better it was free! Although we did donate to the car park collection for the Bush Fire appeal.

Have been busy in the garden, we are at last getting on with it, although we have had trouble finding anyone to do the decking, we have now got that booked for next week, yesterday morning we had 5 tonnes of pine bark delivered and later in the week we've got pebbles and stones being delivered. I'm a bit sore this morning after being too over energetic yesterday so will take it easy today! Weather is perfect for gardening as its sunny but too warm.

I am the same - very sore yesterday and today from Shovelling pebbles. Really feeling it in the tricep area.

Hopefully this weekend will see stage one complete (entertainment area) then we start on topsoil and turf for the grassed area.

Sounds like you are up to the same thing as in the garden! We have not done anything since we moved in but have now finally got the time and motivation to get on with it. We are currently trying to dig some borders, which is easier said than done as it's rock hard and pretty poor, we are stopping and buying anything we see, mushroom compost, pony poo, anything to improve it! Next will be the decking, which we are not doing ourselves as Angus is not very DIY minded (hates it, actually!) then we need to put some lawn in, just debating at the moment whether to do it ourselves, as we had a quote of $7000 for the whole garden:eek: Are you doing your lawn yourselves, if I can be nosy where will you get the topsoil and turf from?

We've got pebbles coming on Friday so I'm trying to pace myself otherwise I'll be completely seized up by then!

Looking forward to the Taste of Huon, sounds like it will be good fun.

My work does Landscaping supplies, or Leslie Vale Gravel's pretty reasonable too.

The turf you get from Strathayr in Richmond, haven't got a s far as asking for prices yet!!

Who do you work for?

We had the pine bark and pebbles from Leslie Vale, they seem reasonable and have been helpful as we don't really have a clue what we're talking about!!

Might give Strathayr a ring just to see how much it would be, as there's no way we can afford the quote we've had.

Hey peeps!

Didn't make it to festivale, we'd left it too late to book anywhere to stay, thought we'd make a go of it next time though. We ended up taking a road trip to Strathgordon and walked across the massive Gordon Dam. The Australian Army were abseiling down the dam, when you looked down at the men at the bottom their helmets looked like smarties, it was a loooong way down! We had a lovely time stopping in a picnic area and met a lovely couple from WA, the lady was originally from the Channel Islands, plus they had a pajero the same as us, so we had lots to talk about. They were on a 3 month tour of Australia and had driven their Paj all the way from WA! On the way back we went to the Tall Tree's reserve in Maydena, very nice. But we did bump into some annoying greenys through the forest who were protesting about saving the forest and yet they had made a bloody mess of it by littering the place with their crap! Plus they stank real bad, I dont' think any of them had seen a bar of soap in a long time!! Yuk!! Alex was horrified, lol I think they have scarred him for life as he still keeps going on about the greenys.

Bump going well thanks Corinne, all going well so far, I have lots of energy now, so have caught up with the house work at last!:o Hopefully we'll find out their sex in a few weeks time.:thumbsup: I can't wait to start buying matching outfits in pink or blue.:thumbup:

Alex has finally started Kindy, he loves it and I love the peace and quiet when he's there. I'm savouring it while I can as in 6 months time, it's gonna be all hands on deck for the twinnys.

I've driven past the turf farms just outside Richmond, they must use a heck of a lot of water to keep them as green as they do.

Hi all, good to hear you had a good time at the festival, by Gary's photo's looks like the weather was perfect!! Well done on the photo Gary, it's great, hope you managed to sample the wines!!! I can't wait for Summer to arrive over here, getting fed up of the rain!! Let us know Gary what the other events are like Gary if you go - I love a day at the races!!

I'm looking into booking flights for our trip over in September, can anyone recommend a good airline, that is reasonably priced & child friendly? I can't wait to come over!!!

Hi. :) When we did our trip to Oz we flew with Emirates via Dubai & onto Perth, and then Virginblue from Perth to Melbourne and again onto Hobart. Coming back we flew Hobart to Sydney and then back to Perth from there...
I think most of the big airlines are pretty child friendly nowadays - although a lot of people recommend Singapore Airlines with kids. I have flown with them to Singapore before - and the service was very good - but that was pre-children. We thought Emirates were ok - wouldn't rate them highly but at the time we booked they were the most reasonable without having really long waits between connections - which we didn't want with the two kids. You're best to use one of those flight comparison sites to gage how much roughly flights at the time of year you want to go are going to work out to and perhaps make a decision from there. How old will your baby be in September? You want to look into what airlines have the best skycots for little un's. There's quite a few threads on BE for flying with babies and which airline to use if you do a search. My son was 11months when we flew over &
too heavy for any of the skycots so we did pay for him to have his own seat on the Emirates flights - but didn't bother on the internal ones, even though he spent most of the flights on my other half's lap - but it was nice to have the extra space to spread out...
