Sorry Cathy forgot to answer your question about the Rudd money:o

He's dishing it out in the hope that it's going to aid public spending and keep the economy going.

By the way I hope you're feeling better now that your on the antibiotics.;)

Hi Kerry, feeling a bit better today thanks :) Hope your cold is clearing up too.
That's good about the money.....wish the government would do something like that over here to help people out a bit more! All thats happened recently here is that they've dropped the interest rate....but we haven't benefited from that personally seeing as dopey me renewed our mortgage last year with a 2 year fixed rate deal! :( Wish i hadn't done as we'd have saved over £100 a month with all the drops recently...

So that's a few things Rudd has done this year what with the increase for
1st time homebuyers as well..

Hi

Thats for a blazer (that alone cost $180!) skirt, shirts, jumper and just an ordinary sports uniform - polo top, rugby jumper and track pants and a new rucksack, that is just enormous!

Lets just hope she looks after it all, she's pretty clumsy, I can just see her coming home with holes in the blazer:eek:

Yeah, the blazer is new for the high school, not had one before, it is on the generous side to ensure as many years use as possible! As long as she does not develop too big a bust, it should last her for the next 4 years (here's hoping anyway!)

While I'm on here does anyone know of:

Antenna installers?

Decking/landscaping companies?

Need to get a few things organised at the new house, we have to start the garden from scratch and could do with someone to start us off with the main bits and then we can carry on at our own speed with the rest.

That is a lot for a blazer! :sneaky: fingerscrossed she'll get plenty of wear out of everything so that you at least get your money's worth!
there was a TV programme a few weeks ago about school uniforms in the UK and how it was against the law for schools to insist that you buy uniforms from just them or their recommended suppliers...Eden's school is currently rethinking their uniform policy as many people have complained this year about the affordability of logo items purchased only via the school office.
I do like seeing children in uniforms - but i think school's could help parents
a lot more by choosing things that are readily available in a choice of places.

Oldgit from the site sent me today some lovely pictures of Launceston that he'd taken yesterday.... nice to see the sun out and people walking about in
t-shirts! :)

Hi Kerry, Oldgit's fine and well, but doesn't want to use the site anymore...:(I think at the time he stopped using it, it was when there were a few system problems and it got too frustrating for him). I think his internet connection is sometimes not too great. I often tell him what we've all been chatting about though - so he's kept uptodate.... I might be able to persuade him to rejoin everyone at some point! :) in the meantime he's being an angel by keeping me motivated by sending me lovely pictures all the time... He sent some lovely park ones yesterday and what i presume was part of the shopping high street in Launceston with the christmas decs...

You'll be pleased to know you ex UK Tassie peeps that it was minus 4 last night.....and good old Jack Frost had a ball last night! :D Blooming freezing here today..... so no telling us you were out in t-shirts yesterday you lot!

Hi :) glad you lot are enjoying some warmth! :D Your Xmas do sounded good - hope the hangover wears off soon! ;) It's Jared's 2nd birthday today so off out in a bit to visit grandparents etc and out for a meal with the kids this evening...
We all went to Colchester Zoo yesterday - they had a great Santa's grotto there, and reindeers etc. The kids love it there (we all love animals anyway) but it was so cold by about 1pm! Both me and Andy have said this year that we don't know whether it's much colder this winter - or whether we're just feeling the cold more because we're a bit older!
Back at work tomorrow so dreading to see what work has accumulated for me during the 2weeks i've been off , and this week see's the start of all my Xmas nights out  So come Saturday i will no doubt be feeling a bit worse for wear & in need of a decent nights kip! ;) Out for a meal with friends tomorrow, work do on Thursday and out with all the girls Friday and then all of us have a busy weekend ahead of us!!!

I hope everyone on the thread is looking forward to Christmas? - not long now!

Enjoy your week everybody

Cathy :)
