Default taking Prescription to oz on holiday

Whats the story/rules in taking Prescription drugs into oz,do they ask you to declare any or not bother, and do they wish to see what it is?
Also as its a Prescription drug is it having my name and label on the box enough as when you get a Prescription here you had the ticket over to chemist and get the stuff in its packaging/box etc with your name and details is this ok for them to see its yours and came from or was issued from a doctor.

I've had to do this twice and my advice would be to declare them on the customs declaration form and take the half of the prescription form that the chemist doesn't keep or a new prescription from your doctor (I was asked for that once, but not the second time). Apart from anyhthing else, it will be handy to show to a doctor/pharmacist should anything happen to your supply of drugs while you're travelling/over there.

Best regards

Alistair

Be very careful if you have a stopover en route - places like Dubai are very particular about what drugs you have with you, prescription or not.

When we went on a trip to the UK from Australia, my husband is epileptic and he took a short letter from the doctor confirming his condition and what medication he was required to take. We felt this would make things easier for (a) getting through customs and (b) if anything went wrong in the UK. As it turns out, he did need to see a GP in England and the letter was invaluable! He didn't however show anything to customs.
