Question Taking money overseas

I am heading back to the UK shortly and not too sure if/when I may be back....

on the immigration form it asks if you are taking more than $10,000 out of Australia.

Do they actually mean with you there and then, or does it include money transferred in the last couple of months too?

If you are taking more than $10,000 out of the country what does the 'Cross border movement - physical cash report involve?? (i.e. a lengthy form/questions by immigration, financial/tax implications??)

many thanks for any info

Default Re: Taking money overseas

They mean physical cash in your pocket not bank transfers as these are traceable.

They only want to know the size of your wad....literally!

All about money laundering and tax avoidance I guess
