Re: Taking the dog -2 grand or 8 pence?
Hi Angie,
The first thing we had done to our dog was an International microchip put into his neck, it cost $55 and any vet could do that, the next thing was the Rabies shot $65 and the blood test 4 weeks after was $225 (Not any old vet can do this only the ones regestered with Pet passport scheme)
Your pet can't leave Australia until 6 months after the blood test.
The company we are using are a Perth based company who fly him using Qantas Airlines as they are regestered with the pet passport scheme and by using them our dog will not have any Quarantine once he arrives at London, we can take him after his papers have been checked (approx 4 hours after he arrives), Our pet will have to be vet checked 12 hours before he leaves Perth and have a tick and flea treatment of which the cost of this is included in the flight cost of $2,300.
There are websites with all the information you need regards to the PETS scheme, it is http://www.ezio.freeserve.co.uk/petspassport.htm
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htm
If I can help anyone with info regarding the Pet passport scheme I will be glad to help.
