Default SYDNEY: Another thread on temporary accomodation

Hi All,

I'm going to be arriving in Sydney on the 5th of April, and I'm looking for something temporary (2 bed serviced apartment) for about 3 weeks until we (my wife & 2 kids - 2 & 9 months) get on our feet - i.e. get an unfurnished place/start work etc.

I'm thinking of upto $1000 a week - but the cheaper the better

I thought the Waldorf at Hornsby would be a safe bet, but it appears to be booked up (even though yesterday I was told they had places free via email).

Anyone else have any recommendations or know of any good private apartments/houses available during that time ?

Ideally I'd prefer something close (< 20 mins drive) to the beach (upper/lower North Shore ?) and not too far (< 1 hr commute) from North Sydney - where I'll be working.

Any input would be much appreciated

Well this is my first ever post to any sort of group - I hope its a successfull one.

Thanks,

not long to go.

Hi

I have been looking at places to rent in Sydney as I am moving soon, most have a minimum of 12 month contracts so if your looking at renting it may be best to find summat you want to stay in for 12 months. Have you considered caravan parks which also have chalets etc. You are more likely to get something for 2-3 weeks this way.

If you want to stay in a hotel you will be paying probably $100+ per night which will work out very expensive. Also when you finally find a house you like you can get a really nice 4 bed house in a nice suburb for approx $500 week.

Hope you find something

Thanks, the plan is to get a furnished/serviced apartment if possible. I really need a 2 bed with kitchen.

I thought 6 month rents was the norm for unfurnished houses/units.

Anyway in regard to finding something temp, I've been looking at :

http://www.apartmentservice.com.au
http://domain.com.au (holiday properties)
http://www.waldorf.com.au

If anyone has any other good sites, I'd love to hear of them

Thanks.

All the following have 2 bed serviced apartments close to the CBD but they are not cheap. You could try negotiating for a long stay:

Macleay Serviced Apartments
Pacific International Apartments (very good deals but not for 2 bed generally) http://www.pacificinthotels.com/
Southern Cross Suites/Tower/Darling Harbour
Medina (various)

If you browse within this site
http://sydney.stays.com.au/
you should be able to find some privately owned apartments available for short term lets.

Good luck,

TC
