You really take the biscuit, to coin a phrase. As for safeway and Coles Coburg, both with around 22 checkouts! Whoopee do! Tesco at Leicester has 48, but who gives a toss! Oh sorry the little man in the orange anorak counting how many staff are working the Deli counter! LOL :D
jan you have a real attitude problem happening here, thankfully you are not my luv either. |

Re: Supermarkets!!!!
Hi there,
My hubbie and I moved to Brisbane 7 weeks ago. Yes, the supermarkets do look a little old fashioned compared to the U.K but they are really cute! You can get everything in the supermarket like meat and veg but he only thing you cannot buy is alcohol but you can go to a bottle shop for that. We have yet to have a problem with our weekly shop (now we are settled our weekly shop is approx $110 per week for two adults). :) |

The aisles are too narrow The trollies are tiny and rust and heavy and very few "family friendly ones" The conveyor belts are too small Theres still sweets on conveyor belt ends They (except the very new ones) look grimy due to grey shelving and dull lighting The floors are usually grey plastic floor tiles that again look grimy. The list is massive, those are just off the top of my head |

I think that my local ones are as good as the local UK ones were when I was last there 2 years ago. There is at least one in Brisbane that I visited that does look pretty old, but the new ones, in my opinion, are great :) |

The list is massive, those are just off the top of my head Wide aisles Brand new Woolworths trollies, that all go in straight lines easily (but too many have 2 child seats) Conveyor belts big enough for 2 customers goods. Nice clean shelves and bright lights Nice clean bright floors OK, all checkouts but 4 have sweets at them. The Woolworths in Sydney, where we also lived was similar, but the Coles was older looking. Maybe that's why I shopped at Woolworths :) |

otherwise i guess it's ok ;) ok, so that's my opinion, and it's based on the fact that i begrudge going there usually every week or so (i hate the two hour early morning drive through the rush hour traffic jams and terrible australian drivers back to brisbane to get to work). i've probably made it sound worse than it is, although i do believe most of what i've said. (also according to a resident of woomby, stay east of ruthven st, and north. the rest of it is not nice). |

I remember buying chewing gum at the checkouts in the uk so nah dont throw that one at me To be honest i was always saying to people when they use to call uk people whinging poms but hey reading this forum on the supermarket issue i know what there on about now I dont want to sound mean but this is crazy also it makes me ask the question WHY DO USE WANT TO LIVE HERE IF IT IS SO BACKWARDS??? America would suit use so much better there up with the times not like backwards Australia. |

The list is massive, those are just off the top of my head as for conveyor belts, in oz they pack your bags for you (where i have been they do anyway) so therefore, as they put it through the till, you put it on, as you dont need to be at the end packing it yes there are sweets on the conveyor belt ends, this is bad because??? they look grimy do they?? due to grey shelving and dull lighting?? too bad get over it! and the floors usually have grey plastic tiles that look grimy do they?? well i personally dont go round looking at the floor, so i guess i have never noticed that one. why dont you just enjoy where you are instead of finding fault with it |
