I gave up on my transitions here, just didn't change well enough, optician told me that they need to have a cooler climate than we have up here. Many's the time I've forgotten to take my normal glasses out with me and ended up driving home in the dark wearing sunnies

Yeah you don,t get those intense clear blue skys ,like we get down here in SA, you have afair amount of cloud cover , due to the humidity so your transitions would be constantly changeing, from sun to shade , and visa versa... i .have a problem with them at work , if i walk out of the store ,into intense sunlight ,then realise i have forgot somthing , and walk back into the dark ness you have a period were you are blind , untill the lenses clear ........

And the summer temps aren't as high here as Adelaide...don't they have an issue with higher the temp less dark they go? My bike shop guy told me you have to pay double and buy the really expensive photo-chromatic sunglasses to get one's that go really clear in the dark and dark in the light. But he is prone to telling me to buy things that cost double

Fair enough, don't know much about them. I guess they would work the whole sunny winter at least.

Also over the period of a couple of years they tend to stop reverting to clear but stay tinted (not dark but not great) and are slower to change but I found they were slow to change in our climate anyway. I think (not sure) that Transitions are a step up from photochromatic, they're certainly not cheap. I don't know the best idea for a prescription wearing bike rider. Transitions also don't work well behind a car windscreen because of the polarisation of the screen so you may have the same issues with the helmet screen. I find it easier to just wear my sunnies as soon as I leave the house and hope I'm home before it's dark
It's a bugger being short sighted and not able to have lazer or wear contacts

I'll be careful not to rubbish the store or promote the web site......
Maui Jim sunglasses in my local shopping centre $456.00
Found an on-line retailer (in Australia) and the price was $256 + $19.95 P&P.
I appreciate the on-line store does not have the overheads and I was very appreciative of the friendly sales staff at the store. Also it WAS great to try them on... felt really guilty to buy them on-line in the end as the sales staff were very good.

Do a bit of a search for on-line sellers.
