Student Visas and the 900 hours
Been looking at this last night but can't seem to find an answer -
can anyone tell me if the full 900 hours has to be paid work or if you can do unpaid work experience? I have found something that says TRA do not specifically require the 900 hours to be paid but do want to see payslips so they sort of contradict themselves.
TIA.

Hi ,
At the moment the 900hrs can be unpaid, but lots of changes ahead for people going the student route, wait and see what happens in the New Year.
This is a very expensive route to take, especially with school age children and very uncertain at this moment in time.

But what would TRA accept as being evidence of unpaid work? I'll give them a call on Monday. A few places are wanting to take hubby on but unpaid until he can prove himself. I've said that won't take long but every hour counts.

I don't know what your hubby is studying, but if the work is in the same field ther shouldn't be a problem.
Keep a diary of everything he does at work daily, and get it signed by supervisor.Show that he has been suprvised at the start and then independently at the end. This is basically how I approached my TRA application. But I don't know what changes are ahead.
Good luck,
Jumpy

Its wall and floor tiling. I plan on having everything documented anyway. Rather have too much!

It looks like I am going to have to do some unpaid work experience too.
If the associated work experience is unpaid can I then do 20 hours paid work on top of that?

no you cant do 20 hours paid and 20 hours unpaid. even if u are working at the salvos unpaid it still counts towards your 20 hours!
