Have spent the last week in Strathpine visiting OH parents . OH grew up here, when it was rural and bush, now it is legoland...............shocking amount of development, but only a hop skip and jump to lovely rural areas - Dayboro / Mount Glorious/ Nebo / Samsonvale, and 25mins to Redcliffe Beach............a town beach but clean. Many schools ....good reputation. Next door to Petrie.........which still has a few nice areas. I have been away from Oz for 12 years, came back a week ago for a month visit. Development everywhere in Brisbane and suburbs is racing at an alarming rate. My OH didn't recognize half the places he knew from even 12 yrs ago. A lot of character being lost, not just in Brissy, a shame. It is not the Oz I remember, getting too like the States in many ways, everything in your face and the pace of life is catching up with UK unfortunately as is the cost of living, but not the wages ! Having said that we have just flown up to Cairns and stying with more rellies in Clifton Beach North of Cairns, have just visited Mossman Gorge, Port douglas etc... (this is my 3rd visit to this area of Oz - it is truly spectacular) and I still love the Aus way of life. Bare foot in the supermarket............supper with the kids in restaurant on the beach.....going troppo............ Still thinkning of moving back..................
sorry to digress.....

Hi
we lived at Bray park just outside Strathpine when we landed. It has everything you need but is a bit quiet, it has a Gilhooleys pub but nothing else close enough for any kind of pub crawl. Easy access to Brissy by train or car and easy access to Bruce Highway for trips to Bribie Island, Noosa etc. There was a population on koalas living in the park behind our house which was good. Don't live there now as got a job further south.
Hope this helps
