State Nominated Visa Overview
Hi
Since the increase in points testing, I have been reviewing alternatives, such as raising $100k, business sponsorship and now state nominated.
Can anyone tell me more about the STNI visa's
do I still need to get my skills assessed by the ACS (IT related)?
are they many IT jobs available in those regions.?
Do you still have to validate your visa, and then have upto 5 years to officially emmigrate?
Are the processing times shorter?
Do you still require, the same meds, police checks etc.?

Hi,
The process for STNI is the same as for a skilled independent except that, once approved for nomination, the process happens quicker (approx 5 months from application to visa in my case). So you still need skills assessments, visa conditions are the same (valid for 5 years, validate within 1 year, etc.). Can't help you out re. IT jobs though. South Oz and Victoria are the states that do STNI. Don't know about Victoria but South Oz (well, Adelaide) is a nice place. Plenty of industry (white goods, defence, automotive)too so jobs shouldn't be too hard to come by.
