Stat Decs, again. I'm sorry....
Hi everyone,
I know it gets boring when the same questions are being asked. I have trawled through pages and pages of searches on this but cannot find the answer I need.
Can a policeman sign stat decs before they go to solicitor for certifing or do they have to be certified in front of the solicitor? Any help gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance
Sarah

Hi there,
(As I understand it) If a policeman signs the stat dec it is instead of it being signed by a solicitor. The police are on the list for Australian authorised people & I just used that list over here as well. One of my stat decs used a member of Merseyside police to sign their statement off for them and this was accepted just fine.
Hope this helps

Thanks mlbonner,
As I thought, but you know how it is. Too many things could go wrong so thought I'd better get another opinion. The solicitor with certfy them all, I just didn't want the whole family to have to come to solicitors with me, just so they can get stat dec witnessed. Thanks again.
