Spoodle Pups?
Hello,
This is a long shot but we have decided on a spoodle puppy, however the only ones I see are all from petshops and ideally we would like to meet the breeder etc.
If anybody knows a spoodle breeder in Qld (we live in Brisbane but we would be willing to drive up as far as Toowomba) and has puppies available early January could you please pass their details onto me.
Thanks
(told you it was long shot!)

Re: Spoodle Pups?
I was in a pet ship in Warwick in perth last week. $950 for a labrador cross with something the staff didn't know the name of !
We want a labrador but it will be a breeder I think purely because we can see the mother/get hip scores etc.

Have you tried www.gumtree.com.au? They had a couple of Moodles, but no Spoodles! I got my pup off of there!

Also try these places for dogs from breeders:
http://www.pups4sale.com.au/
http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppies.asp
Also try for dogs, prices can sometimes be cheaper:
http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Home
I agree with Renth its a mongrel and cant see why everyone is paying big money for these cross breeds.

They have become something of a fashion statement here in Sydney. A couple of weeks ago we were in a pet shop buying a Siamese Fighting Fish, and there was a woman looking at some ridiculous cross breed nonsense dog complaining because it didn't look like the one her friend had.
They seem to be less about the experience of owning and caring for a dog as a companion and more about them being a fashion accessory to be cast aside when the fashion wears off...

Try Googling Spoodle breeders in QLD - should come up with a list.
I think people like the poodle crosses as they are supposed to be less shedding and also good for people with asthma etc. Plus I like the look of them- nice scruffy dogs as I don't like short haired dogs but might not want a long haired dog.
Be very aware of puppy farms with the cross breeds - don't pay over $600 at the most - I've seen Labradoodles for over $1k which is daft.
Most dogs I've seen on the rescue lists tend to be Staffy's and other Staffy/Kelpie etc cross breeds so that might be okay for some but they're not a dog I would personally go for. You don't often see pups on the lists either. I'd be quite concerned getting a rescue as my first dog as I know several people who have had to return theirs because of issues with what happened to the dog in a previous life. It's very sad when that happens.
If we get a dog then it will be my first so I would want a pup - however, I'm very much a cat person so the jury is still out!

Re: Spoodle Pups?
Because I'm not keen on a pure Poodle!
I have bad memories of an Aunts frisky boy when I used to visit her....not saying all Poodles are the same but!!!
Ideally I'd have a Border Collie but just concerned about the upkeep of them - although I could do with a couple of hours exercise a day..

As do all pups and kids
Cats are better as they are taught to use the litter tray from birth by their real Mums

When we were looking for a dog, I found all the ones in the pound were big dogs, mainly staffs and blue heelers! We only wanted something small.
