Default Spent Convictions

Hi,

I'm just wondering if they will reject my application as I have 3 convictions,
for smashing a window when I was 11,
Drunk and disorder about 17 years ago,
Preverting the course of justice (said I was driving, when I wasnt) 12 years ago.

I have looked on the web site an it tells you that unless you have been to prison for more that 12 months that you should be OK. My last offence was 12 years ago, do you think they will hold these against me??

Nope, as long as you disclose them on the forms etc.

Good luck!

Very old convictions which don't involve imprisonment are unlikely to make a difference, but they MUST be declared. Even if they are considered "spent" for other purposes, they must still be declared. The concept of "spent convictions" is not relevant when considering migration

Exclamation Re: Spent Convictions

Hi all.

Does anybody know about cautions? Do they have to be declared too?

On the Metropolitan Police website it says this, so I guess maybe they do appear on the police checks? So you would have to disclose them.

"This form relates to information that may be held about you on the Police National Computer, such as details of convictions, cautions and warnings. This type of check is usually required for visa, work or immigration purposes."

I guess we just got lucky.

Now if someone commits a crime, we deport them back to England.

I love the irony of it all

A police caution is not a criminal conviction (although some case officers may not understand this - be careful).
