Yeah, I'm a little confused by this one too. If the persona was doing 30-45Kph over the speed limit in a residential area I think they should have their car impounded for three months too.

No sympathy.

...it's about 80Kph over the speed limit, that's what it is.

I don't like the speed limit any more than you guys do, my can easily crack 250Kph but does it mean I do it ? I may occasionally push the speed limit by 10Kph on a deserted highway, but the law is the law. You're living in Australia now, and I doubt any judge is going to be sympathetic to the "but I drove at that speed in the UK just fine" defence.

Yep, keep telling yourself that until an HSV cop car catches up and pulls you over.

The cop cars (govt vehicles) have governors on them that restrict the max speed to about 190km/h. Well they used to anyway, don't know if this has changed with the newer models. Anyway, if the cop car can't keep up, they just get the helo out.

Bloody cops. Always speeding.... and getting away with it.

If speed kills, every cop would be dead!

Do they really have speed limiters on the their cars - that's ridiculous. It's like saying 'we're let you go faster to catch someone but not too fast' - heck if they cannot drive at 200kph they cannot drive at 150kph either. And 150kph is not that fast really...

Actually the road traffic laws don't apply to Police or emergency service vehicles so they are not breaking the law.

Yes, the general duties cars do (well they did when I was in the job). The traffic cops may not as they used to have the V8's and they went a lot harder. I wasn't a traffic cop; the dogs of the Police force.

I'm with you - I was being sarcastic. And failing to show it obviously...

My Toyota Hiace camper wont do 100, never mind 110 - even down hill. I love seeing the cops face when its double demerits and they see me coming towards them.

One of them over Easter must have kept his speed gun on me for a good 6 or 7 seconds...I guess hoping that somehow I would be able to accelerate!

Is that all the time or when responding to a call with sirens on?

Don't need to have sirens on. Unmarked car. Even got pulled over by the coppers at the time. He wasn't happy when he realised the car was full of on duty coppers!
