Sorry for the delay in replying.
I have no idea if you need to register to teach privately - I haven't. I don't have a teaching qualification but my degree is in Business Studies with French and people don't seem to have any problem with that. It boils down to if they feel comfortable with me and are learning well.

The boss is not South American, but speaks Spanish - as does our daughter who is bi-lingual.
There is a South American community in Melbourne - I'd hazard a guess there would be one in most cities. But don't come over and do the expat thing.
