Default sorry its that question again

looking into various providers of accounts in Auz, well you know what it is like here you open an account and stick with the same bank for life, or atleast most of us do.

Have looked into HSBC Auz bu no go as not got an account with them here and won't have time to process new account etc before we leave, 19 Feb . Looked at Westpac, which seem pretty good in relation to fees, but are they pretty widely avaiable all over Auz as there charge for using a non Westpac ATM is 5 bucks . Also had a look at Comonwealth bank of Auz which seems higher in overall charges than Westpac.....

All those peopel who are now already living the dream any advice, as to who you think is a good bank to start of with.

www.anz.com

The Access account costs $5 a month but you get free EFTPOS and withdrawals from ANZ ATMs.

Well I can narrow the field a bit for you. Don't use Commonwealth or National.

There, thats narrowed it down a bit. We use HSBC, Westpac, and BankWest(for savings and credit card). If you are going Perth way, bankwest might be a good one to look at, they have the highest interest rate for savings and a 0% interest rate for a credit card for 4 months which goes up to 9.9%. They also claim they are rebels in the banking world

We went with Westpac. We are in Brisbane and haven't had a problem finding one, they seem to be everywhere.
Their online banking site is good and they offer 4.85% on savings account.

i decided on basic anz account but mine has no monthly fee but i only get 5 free withdrawals a month at the anz bank, and then free eftpos at all times. This suits me though as ANZ bank next to my work place. I went with this one as my brother in law who lives in oz said this was the best one! but that was just his opinion obviously

bye

Hi,
We don't have an HSBC account here, but have managed to open an Oz one. It took about 6 weeks all in all, so if you wanted to pursue it, you should have plenty of time.
Let me know if you'd like more info.
Claire.

I've just setup an account with ANZ and they seem fantastic. Their telephone banking is very good and they are pretty widespread so you shouldn't have a problem finding an ATM.

For saving I use HOME because they have given me an interest rate of 6%, which I can't find in other banks.

I've got an ANZ account too. No probs so far and in fact they have been very helpful so far. Internet banking set up and can do payments online as well as order bank cheques to be sent to people if you need to for about $7.
