We are off to Perth in October and are planning to stop enroute for a week.
We were going to Penang but have been advised that several Jabs are required. Our yougest can not have them until he is 18 months min.

Any suggestions of somewhere else Jab free, we have two children (1 & 5).

We stopped over in Singapore for a couple of days, and our kids 5, 3, and 1 loved it. Next time we plan to stay on Sentosa island which is a resort with beaches, playgrounds, small train, amusements etc. You can play golf (I think) and hire bikes. The hotels were no more expensive than those around the centre. For transport mad kids like mine Singapore is great. There is a cable car over to Sentosa, you can see all the way along the underground trains (pretty cool even for adults when the track curves) and there are boat rides galore. There is a good zoo (we didn't have time to go) and they have a nightime experience which is supposed to be great. Most places are clean and safe, you can drink the water and people are very friendly, especially to children. Lots of shopping too if you enjoy that. Food is cheap and varied. You can buy a discount card at the airport for various attractions which might be worthwhile if you are there for a week. The only bad thing I can think of is that the breakfast at our hotel was rubbish.

Cant remember about jabs but I would recommend Langkawi- Malaysia airlines offer free flights- its an hours flight from KL.

It has to be the most beautiful place I have ever been- tourism is still in its early stages and you get the feel of real asia.

It is also very cheap !!!

we did Singapore and loved it. We stayed at the Oriental opposite the harbour and it was fab. You'll find it if you do a search for Hotels in Singapre on Yahoo.

Also, the kids will love flying with Singapore as there is lots to do.

Sentose island is good to chill and the city/zoo are good to explore as well.

Air Mauritius are FANTASTIC they fly several times per week London -Mauritius-Perth and in reverse! Mauritius is beautiful and there are hotels for all budgets. And the kids clubs at most hotels in Mauritius are the best I have seen anywhere in the world...Sugar Beach Resort in particular.

No reason a 1 year old can't have the jabs. We stopped off in Thailand out of Singapore (3 weeks) when littlest was 1.2. Get better and more flexible advice?

Maybe I missed something but I couldn't see anything on that site recommending jabs for Singapore.

We've pulled up our horses over the years in Singers, but didn't need jabbing . . .

They are definitely recommended in the DoH handbook for travellers. I have just recieved a new copy.
They recommend Hep.A, Typhoid and tetanus (which most kids are routinely innoculated.
I am just giving the official line.
