Aye but what was you outlay to acheive this?

I had a 3.9Kw system installed a couple of months ago that cost me $12,000 and my first bill was still $150 for 2 months. Of this time only 1 month was after I installed. I had $90 of fees to the electric company.

I was hoping to break even in about 6 years but going of this one bill it's going to take longer.

It's early days yet but hopfully in 12 months I'll have a better idea of my savings.

Hi Sue,

the number of panels means nothing really, as each installer will be pushing different denominations of panels (ie: 225W, 200W, 190W, 185W etc etc)

What you need to look at is the total power of the system (ie: 1.5kW systems)

If you are being quoted $2,000 for a 1.5kW system then that is extremely cheap and I don't mean that in a good way. You are likely getting very poor quality parts, so something you may want to consider. The going rate for good quality parts on a 1.5kW system tends to be from around $3,000 up and even then there is some crap being peddled.
