Sky+
Hi
Had a search and could not find the answer, is Foxtel the same as sky+ or just sky? Thanks Nic |
Re: Sky+
I think foxtell IQ is similar -- watch when you like or something.
http://www.foxtel.com.au/foxteliq/ We had cable in the uk but I certainly wouldn't bother with foxtel here :) |

Re: Sky+
My cousin has this in Oz. Their Foxtel box is identical to our Sky plus box. I did wonder if we could just take our sky plus box to hook up to Foxtel, but have been told they won't work.:( Don't know if this is true.

Hi

I personally wouldn't be without it - Oz terrestial Tv is pretty rubbish [apart from a gem now and then on ABC] so at least this way we can find something worth watching now and then - but it is expensive. |

Foxtel IQ is identical to Sky+ - same box, same software. The only difference is that a UK box will NOT work in OZ and vice versa [different satellites etc]. Also in some places, Foxtel is delivered via cable rather than satellite but the box is the same.

Re: Sky+
From the little I've seen of it Oz terrestrial TV is pretty mind numbing, we've just signed a deal with Austar to get all channels free for a month but never really looked at Foxtel. Is there much difference? (I'd go with any provider that screens "Dexter" :D anyway)

I think the channel choice is the same though as Foxtel. |

I think Austar has more options regarding what packages to select than Foxtel. Austar don't offer a recorder box like Foxtel IQ which I think is bloody marvellous [there are better recorders but as an integrated package it's excellent].

Re: Sky+
Thanks for that, I was amazed to see how many channels there are on offer from Austar.
We started watching Dexter and got a long way into the series before we left NZ, when I saw it was going to be screened here on Showtime I was well pleased! :D |
Re: Sky+
Hi everyone, thanks for the replies
Do Austar and Foxtel supply all the states? When you say Foxtel IQ is expensive, how expensive? Personally I love sky + because of the stop, rewind etc, so sad really, I know :o Nic |

Re: Sky+
Prob with Aussie TV is not so much the quality of programmes, but the mind-numbing adverts and their frequency.
If you sit down to watch a film on a Sat night on one of the terrestrial channels at say 8.30pm, chances are the film will still be going way after midnight due to the amount of adverts they show, which also increase in frequency as the film progresses Many a time I've either called it a day or fallen asleep before the film has finished. |

Thanks for the correction, I had a feeling that was the case, but their website doesn't mention anywhere that I could find.
