My husband went yesterday and he said that it was ok if you hadnt done much research into moving to Oz as there were plenty of stalls with immigration info or if you are a doctor or nurse but not much use to him (he is a qualified civil engineer but moved into technical sales management 10 years ago).

Bill went and thought it was really good. He was given a big bag of bumpf (and free biro) which had loads of info on housing, economic development, schools, jobs, etc. for the various regions. We got lots of info on Queensland that we didn't already have.

He managed to speak to about 5 potential employers and hand over CV's. He even got some new contacts from some of the employers that were in related fields (e.g. ' we don't directly employ Environmental Scientists but we use two companies that do and here are the email addresses for the managers'). Several of the employers have promised to email once they have passed on his CV to the relevant departments and in any case he is planning to do some follow up emailing himself in a few weeks.

There may not be a job out of it in the short term but he feels that he knows a lot more about the kind of companies he could work for and what they are looking for. We also have more leaflets than any sane person could ever want on just how fab Australia is and how we should all move there immediately.

Hello

I went yesterday between 11.30 till two'ish, me being a maintenance electrician the employers that were there was'nt interested but if i went to the local goverments state reps they were very intrested.

I gave my c.v. to the Canberra,Queensland and the Murry area reps and I will se e what happens,I was looking for sponsership.

The other thing I found was that the confirmation letter of trade from the TRA lasts a lifetime or as long as you keep it.

We went on Wednesday, my husband's a maintenance electrician too. The guy on the WA Chamber of Commerce stall gave us his email address and asked us both to email him our CV's and said he would pass our details on to potentially interested parties. Also the cement company took my husband's CV to pass on.
