Hi LTA

Can you tell me please, when you received your SIR visa, was there a date that you have to validate it by? (ie. that you have to enter Oz by). I know this is the case with permanent visas but I was wondering about SIR as this is classed as a temp visa, right?

Can anybody else shed any light on this? Ta.

No problem!

I got the Visa on about Nov 8th,I have to Validate by 2nd Sept 2005, then unlimited access until sep 2008.If you've got a choice don't go for this visa as you must Live and work in Regional ie no cities , you must also only find employment of the type which you applied.
I am an Aircraft Engineer so it was the only visa I could get being over 35 (just) .I got sponsored by Geelong nr Melbourne but If I don,t get a job at Geelong the only other Airports are in Melbourne itself which is not regional so I can,t apply. Bit of a bum deal really but we will give it a go ,if Geelong doesn't work out we will try SA as it is all classed as Regional.

Bye 4 now.

Thanks for your reply LTA.

I am curious that you say you have up until September 2008 to stay in Oz. I was under the impression that the 3 years ran from your grant of visa date (in your case November 2007) and not from the date of entry/validation?

Can only say what is written on the Visa.It is a 3 year temporary visa so I suppose the idea is if you don't actually go until your validation deadline you have still got 3 years in which to gain PR.You can't apply for PR until you have been resident for 2 years.
