Default Silliest reason for 'going back'

I know a family who recently packed up and went back to England. They had waited 2 years for Visa's and eventually moved here in 2009. Both had good jobs and daughter was in high school doing well. Reason for going back " I miss the soccer on Saturday afternoon's" and " I can't get a decent pint".

I also heard of someone going back because they missed English TV once, they hadn't even subscribed to Foxtel to catch up on the UK TV shown here. They actually missed "Eastenders and Emmerdale" which are both shown here anyway, all be it a few months late.

In both instances I reckon they were both lame 'excuses'. What's the craziest reason you have heard ?

Moving back because of the flies - but there was probably more to it than that as I cant believe anyone would move back purely because of the flies.

Exactly.

Nobody moves back for a reason like missing the football. People move back because it doesn't feel right being 'here', where ever 'here' maybe. If you are happy in your own personal circumstances then small things don't matter... if you're not, then the small things begin to add up.

I don't see what's silly about moving back for what seem like relatively trivial reasons. If someone has done a bit if thinking and thought to themselves, meh, this isn't all I thought it would be, then some if those 'silly' little intangible things might make all the difference. If someone thinks sitting on the pub with their mates on a Saturday afternoon watching the footy will make them happy then good luck to them!

Some people are so dumb its unbelievable. We heard of a couple who had 1 6 yr old and they went back because the 6 yr old couldn't settle. WTF!!!!

Anus makes a good point though

I'd say there is probably a lot more to why these people moved back. But then I'm also guessing if you are homesick or not settling well then all these 'silly' little minor points can all add up & become major issues. Not that I can see missing Eastenders every being a major issue, quite glad I did don't find it by accident when surfing channels, miserable program although I'd happily watch Holby if it was on

No such thing as a silly reason. The smallest things build up until there is an overwhelming feeling of being lost, missing a pint is just the straw that broke the camel's back. A few years back there was a family who moved out, came by boat as they were trying to bribe their 17 year old daughter with the move. Two weeks later they flew back because she was still being a bitch and was making their lives a misery. It seems silly to us on the outside but I guess to them it was monumental.

I think I was looking for some funny stories. I agree with the replies to my thread, but was hoping for some satire to brighten my day.

Sorry People saying they miss their mum seems silly to me but you'd have to know the mother to understand.

Me too... I thought about going back because the grout in my shower kept going black in the damp.
